The objective of this course is to introduce the principles of two-dimensional design. This course uses the Macintosh computer and the OS X operating system, incorporating electronic drawing and the principles of design and visual communication, with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. The course will cover fundamentals of 2D design: color, composition, line, perspective, texture, shape, grid, etc. as well as concepts, sequencing, and narrative.

Students will posses technical proficiency in the use of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Students will gain the ability to utilize them appropriately in art and design concepts, to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of work produced, and to identify possibilities for further development.

Depending on the level of the students, the course may be divided into Part I - basic knowledge, and Part II - further developments. Please be advised that this course requires a time commitment outside of class time. It is estimated that at least three hours per week should be dedicated to assignments.
